Do you think I have nerve damage?
« on: December 25, 2016, 08:20:07 PM »
I recently discovered a small tear at the urethral opening (meatus) going down toward the frenulum. It's only about a millimetre (Maybe), but it's healed. I've had this issue in the past (I masturbate with fabric. The doctor said a lot of people do that and that it's safe). I had a tear back in June and had it checked. The doctor said that kind of tear happens fairly often, and that I shouldn't worry. I left it alone for a while, like he said, then went back to it. About a month later, a similar cut happened and I left it alone for a bit. I didn't see the doctor that time.

The last time something like that happened was probably the beginning of November. But I kept feeling things until December 2nd (my last orgasm). I felt a burning sensation at the urethral opening several days before December 2rd that went away after urinating.

On the 3rd, I tried to masturbate, but was unable to get it up (maybe 60% erect), and I ejaculated very quickly. I had problems getting/maintaining an erection for the next few days, and I can't move the tip of the penis with my mind. I can feel around the head of the penis, and the shaft, but I can't feel urine leaving the urethral opening, and there's no pleasurable sensation.

Soon after those first few days, I was able to get erect again, with no problem. But I couldn't get it up through visuals. A few days ago I noticed a tingling "pins and needles" feeling at the urethral opening. But still no orgasm (I tried on Saturday morning. I've stupidly been trying more often than I should. I'm just panicked and desperate to feel something there again)

As of now, I am feeling some tingling, but I can't really tell if it's a tingling or burning. I can get erect through visual stimulation (Trying not to), and woke up with an erection. I'm trying hard to avoid masturbating, but am very stressed, impatient, scared and sexually frustrated.
I still can't feel urine leave, and I still can't control the tip of the penis through thought alone. I'm going to try not to masturbate until after I consult my doctor again on Tuesday or Friday.

Do you think this is nerve damage, or something else?
Do you have any advice for me to help the feeling come back? (I'm trying to get a referral to a specialist asap)

The lack of sensation that you describe seems like it could be some sort of nerve problem.

Any chance you have an infection causing the pain and numbness?

Hopefully your doctor will take you seriously about this and be able to help you.

I don't think I have an infection. My urine came back negative, but I haven't seen my blood tests yet.

I don't know if the nerves will grow back, or if they can fix my problem surgically. I've been feeling extremely depressed recently.

The first doctor I spoke to said it was all in my head, the next one said that's not enough damage to cause nerve problems and the feeling may come back on its own, but I'm not so convinced. I've been trying to see a specialist for the past month, but they aren't giving me a referral yet.

I just got out of a visit with my family doctor. Before that I got a cat scan to check my spine.

This was the first time my FD heard about my issues (I was seeing other doctors elsewhere and the walk in doctor at the same clinic until now). I described my symptoms, and explained what was going on, when it started happening and all of that stuff. He checked my blood results, and we found that I'm low in vitamin B12 (this has a lot to do with normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, and with helping red blood cells form), but other than that, I was completely fine.

He checked my pulse, felt around. I'm apparently very tense, but my heart's working fine, and my body's reacting normally to being touched.
After that, he had me show the cut described (the healed and open meatus tear going town towards the frenulum).

He had me take some verbal tests to cover anxiety and depression. It looks like I'm moderately depressed, and have extreme anxiety, which definitely doesn't help. He thinks that it's all in my mind, but he's going to do some looking into it, and wants me to come back after a few weeks, after my other test results come in.

I tried masturbating after I got home, I had no problem getting or maintaining an erection, and I could feel sensation everywhere except for the meatus (where I used to get a lot of "chills"). I could semi control when I ejaculated, and was very excited when I did, but, nothing.

Afterwards for the rest of the day, the meatus felt overly sensitive and I've been feeling a lot of light stinging/burning.
I'm thinking of going back in a bit sooner than planned if the stinging/burning continues.

Still pretty scared and upset. Because of the growing discomfort I feel like I need to have the meatus tear reopened and put back surgically, but I don't know what that would mean for nerve regeneration.

I've made some lifestyle adjustments too:
- 7-8 hours of sleep.
- Basic exercises every morning.
- Consistent eating.
- Yoga after work.
- Drinking more water.
- No technology past 11:00pm if I can help it (to assist with sleep)

I'm about to add:
- Jogging on Saturday mornings.
- Taking Vitamin B12 capsules.
